I’m Kerry Hunt, the person behind My Frugal Nature. I have been frugal for as long as I can remember, having learned from my Mom – who could have written the handbook on it! My interest in being more frugal and sustainable financially grew exponentially when my children were born and especially when I needed to “retire” to care for them! (I’ll share that story in a future post!)
I have read many books and articles on the subjects of saving money and living frugally and now rarely find ideas that I haven’t already tried! I know many people struggle to make ends meet or to prepare for financial emergencies and I want to share my successes (and failures!) to support and inspire you.
Caring for the Earth and wildlife have been my passion forever. I love gardening, berry foraging, nature hikes, protecting wildlife and the rainforest, recycling and living sustainably to keep this Earthly home the gift that it is, These passions have been cemented in me over and over from the events I participated in for the very first Earth Day to living on a farm and becoming a certified Herbalist. There are so many things we can do individually to be more eco-friendly. I’m excited to share my ideas for sustainability in the home, the car, the workplace and the world and hope you may be motivated to take action in small or big ways too!
Big thanks go out to my loving husband, Dana. He is an amazing handyman and mechanic even though that is not his career path! I’m thrilled we are so in synch on recycling and sustainability–and even my plan to raise chickens. And I’m especially thrilled for his support of me pursuing this dream.
I dedicate this blog and website to my children Will and Andie (both attending college) who have inherited my love of nature. I pray they will see a future where people have stepped up and stewarded this Earth and where food, water and natural beauty are available to all.
